Admiral Thomas B. Fargo, USN (Ret.)
Following a distinguished career serving the U.S. Navy and the Department of Defense, Admiral Fargo transitioned to corporate leadership in 2005. He is the chairman of Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE: HII), America’s largest military shipbuilder. Admiral Fargo serves on the boards of directors for Hawaiian Electric Industries (NYSE: HE), Matson (NYSE: MATX), The Greenbrier Companies (NYSE: GBX), and United States Automobile Association, in addition to smaller private and venture capital portfolio companies. He is active in the community, serving on the boards of directors for the Japan-America Society of Hawaii, the Friends of Hawaii Charities, the Iolani School Board of Governors, and the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association (HSJGA). Previously, he held senior leadership positions at Trex Enterprises, J.F. Lehman and Co, and HSF Holdings/Hawaii Superferry; and served on the board of directors of Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) and Hawaiian Airlines (NASDAQ: HA).
Admiral Fargo completed his military career as the twentieth officer to hold the position of Commander of the U.S. Pacific Command. As the senior U.S. military commander in East Asia, the Pacific and Indian Ocean areas, he led the largest unified command while directing the joint operations of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force across 100 million sq. miles. He also served as the 29th commander in chief of the U.S. Pacific Fleet from 1999 to 2002. His 35 years of service included five commands in the Pacific, Indian Ocean, and Middle East as well as six tours in Washington, DC.
