Each year, the Hawaii Business Roundtable and the University of Hawaii’s Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation hosts its Future Focus 2-day conference in the Fall. While the conference generally highlights cybersecurity and venture capital opportunities, the 2018 iteration will also showcase the wide intersection between innovation and agriculture, food security and food manufacturing.
There will be a number of Chamber members who will be participating in interactive discussions at the conference. Gary Yoshioka (Diamond Bakery and HFMA Board Member) and Ann Hashisaka (Kauai Cookie) will be serving as panelists during discussion about innovation in food manufacturing on Day 1. On Day 2, Byron Goo (The Tea Chest) and Mitzi Toro (Maui Cookie Lady) will participate in a discussion titled “Foodies—Start-Up, Scale-Up and Never Give Up!” that will be moderated by HFMA board member Chris Speere (UH Maui Food Innovation Center). Additionally, Fred Crowell (Kauai Coffee), Mawae Morton (Cyanotech/Nutrix) be panelists discussing innovation that has made a difference for their respective companies on the second day.
